Defrag Problem under XP Prof

My daughter has been running a scheduled defrag weekly. All of a sudden it
stopped and when she tried to run it -Programs/Accessories/System
Tools/Defrag- nothing happened. I visited over Memorial Day***THANK YOU TO
ALL VETERANS AND OUR FIGHTING MEN AND WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES!!***and tried
Defrag via My Computer/Right Click Hard drive/Properties/Tools. I ran a Error
Check first/ Defrag will not start and neither did Analyze.

Hi

Is there at least 15% free disk space available for defrag to run?

Will,

The HD has about 75 % free disk space.

Not sure what manually means.

I believe that reference was being made, based on older OS where you could
get a DOS (cmd) Prompt, then type in "defrag /c:" It has been a few years
and I do not remenber the exactly worded command:

defrag /c: /nosave
defrag /c: /a

In any case: the answer is----- no. NOR can a floppy disk (a:) be
defragmented in XP Pro. You also NEED some version of IE ( which I do
NOT have and am now being forced into a "clean install"--- "repair" did
NOT work . . . for me. )

And: YES. I am still w-a-i-t-i-n-g for an answer on:

BEFORE proceeding with this "clean install".
