came with windows update yellow shield on 2 computers (I have it on 3 but
the other one is not just turned on as of yet) with no problems.

Same here. I have updates set to notify only: the little yellow shield
automatically popped up to say the update was available - I finished what I
was doing, downloaded it and installed it with no bother.
