Da Vote: Move the Pricelessware site

Thanks for taking the time to explain REM. I'm still not sure however how
a transient entity such as ACF can hold anything, least of all a
copyright in the same way that an individual or organisation can.

Has anyone heard of a newsgroup holding anything ? I doubt it. Sounds
like rubbish to me.

John, you put it as it were a Susan's private issue.

It is. She is the one that refuses to work with Genna. The system is
working fine now. Has been for a while. No need to change anything.
Unless Susan decides she wants to.
For the true nature of her work, Susan needs the a.c.f. will and support.

She has that. So why waste everyone's time with these nonsense
threads ? Nothing worthwhile has been achieved.

Susan *could* move her files at post number one. If this thread
reaches 300 posts, which it might well do, then nothing will change.
She will still have the same choice she started with.
It's not only a matter of what she can or can't do.

As the former issue isn't being discussed it is a case of the latter
issue.

If you want to get a new thread going "Do ACF readers support Susan's
work ?" then do so. It couldn't get much more pointless a thread than
this one. Though I suppose it would help to stroke Susan's ego.

None of this would have happened if GENNA would have left things alone.

None of this would have happened if Susan cooperated with the person
who has kindly given ACF readers somewhere to host the Pricelessware
info.

I just read about 15 of your posts and they were the only new ones not read.
Each post had different words but each post said the very same thing as the
previous one. For someone upset about this thread being long, you need to
take your own advice. You do have my sympathies. You seem to be a very
bitter man!!

I can see no reason why the "list" can't be moved and who cares what it is
called? And as I said previously, I know nothing about Genna and Susan has
always been courteous (a sweetheart) to me. I vote for Susan to do anything
she wants, I'll follow to a new site.

Henk, It's *not* going to be a one person site. I'll start a thread for
discussion of the details.

There has been a *lot* of discussion - it is not always possible to
reconcile opposing viewpoints - sometimes the only way to go forward is
to make a change in the situation.

Susan

I think you know that I *prefer* to 'stay' Susan, but your statement
above concerns me. If you truly believe the *ONLY* way forward is to
move, then why are you asking for votes?

You say in another post " Moving/not moving the Pricelessware web site
is a *major* change. Therefore it is a *group* decision. I am a
volunteer worker for ACF. Whether or not I am willing to volunteer my
time is *my* decision."

The overwhelming majority appear to want you to remain as Webmaster.
If you feel that remaining with the existing host is NOT possible for
you personally, then end this thread and move the site, because , if
you will not stay in other circumstances, further discussion is
pointless.

Many have questioned the retention of the existing name or domain and
feel that this is an important issue (I agree). It is an issue which
might be resolved with the use of an intermediary. Henks services may
be useful in this regard.

For someone who professes not to care just what Susan does you have
certainly weighed in a lot.

Hopefully, it won't take another 15 posts before his common sense starts
to sink in.

Is it not time to stop acting like crazy and get back too what it?s all
about? I find that many in here knows what to do and all of the rest are
stupidos in som way!! To be honest, I don?t understand what you are fighting
about. This NG has been a good place to be, stop!!

Has been is right. I'd never thought I'd live to see the day when Vic &
John would get along and Susan start useless threads. :)

Has anyone heard of a newsgroup holding anything ? I doubt it. Sounds like
rubbish to me.

If a.c.f. was a business and the group was a corporation the files would
come under 'work product' and would belong to the corporation. But since
those two scenarios do not come under that category then the files written
by Susan, Omega and others would come under 'intellectual property' and
Susan can only move her own files unless permission is granted and
recieved from the other authors.(I'm sure they wouldn't mind)

A person couldn't even make copies of the webpages without violating U.S.
copyright law. The instant that the author started to write the pages
copyright comes into effect. Also.... any description taken from
another's site that are placed on another site word for word is a violation
of copyright. IOW, the description written would have to be written in its
entirety from the hand of the reviewer or others.

Fact: If someone took this post, if I had written the whole thing word
for word, and published it elsewhere (V pbhyq ernyyl pner yrff) that is
also a violation of copyright. Usenet posts are also under copyright when
they are written and continue to be when they are posted. Same for email!
Search engines are under the same kind of violation except they have a
wink and a nod for doing the public a 'favor'.

For someone who professes not to care just what Susan does you have
certainly weighed in a lot.

I noticed that also. All said so far could be summed up in, "I
abstain."
