Cutting entire movie in half for uploading considerations

Howdy, all. I pose this question with regards to a 10 1/2 WMV video I made
for my Biology students. It took 16 minutes to save it on my hard drive; I
am now trying to save it to TeacherTube (which always take a while anyway),
but it is taking forever, and TeacherTube is logging me out due to
"inactivity".

I would like to cleave my movie in half for time/space so I can upload 2
smaller files. What's the easiest way to do this? I'm certain there's a
better way than going in to the project and painstakingly going through each
segment, audio, narration, text, transition, etc. I basically want to
"karate chop" the whole thing and save each 1/2. Any solutions? THANKS!!!

Insert 10 1/2 min video into new project, save as project 1
Save as project 2.
Cut movie at desirable point.
Save as project 2
Save movie file as part 1.
Open project 1
Save as project 3
Cut at same point as before, but discard first part of movie.
Save as project 3
Save movie file as part 2.

Ok, you have some save projects in there that you don't really need, but it
is good practise to do it this way, so I'd recommend it.

Import the finished .wmv movie file
into Movie Maker...drag it to the
timeline and split it.

Play the video/audio by clicking the
"Play" button under the view screen.

You will see the Playback Indicator
(vertical line) advancing across the
timeline.

Click the "Pause" button at the point
where you wish to split and type...
Ctrl+L or click the "Split" button at the
bottom of the view screen.
(you can also make adjustments by
dragging the Playback Indicator)

Delete one half from the timeline
and save the remaining portion
as a movie.

Clear the timeline and drag the
complete file to the timeline once
again...split it...delete the other half
and save the remaining portion as
a movie.

Hey Graham,

I'm sure the pianos miss me )

Don't forget that you answer lots of
questions that I have no clue about.

Thank you so much for your participation
in this group and for your great website.
