Customize search engine

How do I specify a search engine to be used when I use
the search button from the toolbar? It uses LYCOS search
and I want to change it to another search.

I thought I should try the customize button in the search
sidebar window, but nothing happens when I press the
customize button.

Any advice?

That particular trogan/adware is not currently on my
machine. But it may have been the one that changed it
originally. The question is, how do I change it? And
why is my customize button not working?
