Cursor with a mind of its own

I am using a Toshiba Satellite A30 running XP Home Edition and I'm having problems with the cursor moving from on to part of the text I'm typing to another. Its happened several times in the course of writing this message and seems to be related to the Touchpad as when I have that switched off it stops happening. I'm uptodate with drivers/bios downloads etc. Any other suggestions

Many thanks..

Just a guess, but maybe the Touchpad is (mechanically) faulty?

Cheers,

Hi Will

Go into mouse properties and turn 'Tapping' off. What is happening is the balls of your hand is brushing against the touchpad .
.. . since tapping is turned on, it is seeing the touch as a move and left click.
