Critical Updates fail to install

I have a Dell laptop with Windows XP Pro that has been
continually coming up with the message since May that I
need to istall 2 ctitical updates: Security Update XP
KB835732 & IE6 Update KB867801. The IE6 update has
successfully installed but keeps coming back up in the
message. The XP update has never ssuccessfully installed
thru at least a dozen tries. Many other updates have
installed OK before and since May.

Has anyone seen anything like this? and what can I do to
make it go away?

Yes, I had a similar experience. I contacted MS email support and they
resolved it.

If it is happening on your corporate network, then try it on your home
network, or at Starbucks.
