Crazy issue with XP and Win2k advanced server

R

Robert Eubank

I have a headless windows 2000 advanced server and a mixed environment of
Win2k PCs and XP boxes. For the folks with XP, when they try to connect to
a drive on the 2000 advanced server, their entire machine locks up and they
are forced to reboot. Win 2000 people are fine. Also, it appears that if
the XP users click on a non-windows 2000 advanced server network drive
*before* clicking on the advanced server drive, everything is fine.

Has anyone ever seen this issue before or can you point me towards a
resolution?

Thanks,

Robert

I had lockups on machines during mapping because of authentication issues.
Anything in the logs? What are the non advanced servers? Is everyone in
the same domain with the same dns settings and access to the dc/gc?

Make sure your XP machines are pointing to the DC for DNS. Let me know if
that works.
