Crashing problem

I own a Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop, with an ATI Radeon 9700 video card. When
I played Doom 3 the game kept on crashing, exiting to the desktop.
I downloaded the latest drivers from Dell ( that allegedly fix the problem,
specifically for Doom 3 ) and this allows me to play for about an hour
before the game stops responding ( overheating issue ?? ). A couple of weeks
ago I also installed the Omega drivers but they were not of much help, as
the game kept on crashing.
Any ideas ??
Thanks in advance.

Does the system totally stop responding? If it does yeah that sounds likely
to be a heat issue.

Make sure all the vents are clear, failing that try sticking it on top of a
shallow box filled with ice or something.
