Display Error with games

Whenever I run any game on my new Dell Inspiron 9100 Laptop, the game attempts to resize my screen (as it should). However, whenever the screen is resized, I get a message from my system stating that my display settings "look best at 1680x1050 pixels" and it automatically resizes the screen back to 1680x1050 (as opposed to the 640x480 the game normally runs at). The game then runs perfectly, but the game is a very small rectangle in the middle of my screen that is surrounded by black on all sides. How can I make it so my laptop displays these games as full screen games? My computer is a Dell Inspiron 9100 Notebook, running Windows XP Professional, and my graphics controller is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (64 MB). If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I've got an Inspirion 8500 at home and I seem to remember finding an option
in the BIOS to stretch the screen in non-native resolutions. Maybe there's
a similar setting in your BIOS.
