Crashed and now can't delete icons

My computer crashed (went into a blue screen) and then restarted. After the
restart my desktop was filled with the my computer type icons that I had
originally deleted and added to the quick launch. I can't delete these now.
I got to delete and it looks as if it's being deleted but then it just
doesn't disappear. Also I can't unlock the task back. I click "lock the
taskbar" and then nothing happens. It's terribly frustrating.

Have you installed any new hardware or software recently? If you have, the
software could be incompatible, or the hardware needs Vista compatible
Drivers to intergrate it with the OS.

If not that, try this.

System Restore: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System
Restore.

Pick a date a couple of days before the BSOD.
While you are there, check the BSOD's date to see what was/was not installed.
