CPU usage shoots up when starting IE

This problem started happening a few days ago. About 10
seconds after starting IE up my CPU usage shoots up to
100%. After checking the background process list, I found
that 99% of resources are going towards one of the
svchost.exe programs. I am unable to figure out which
programs this particular svchost is launching, but
whichever one it is it takes up about 16M of my ram.

Currently I cannot do anything but restart the system once
this happens. Even after I have shut down IE the CPU is
still being overtaxed. If anyone can help with this
problem I'd really appreciate it. Otherwise it looks like
I'll have to reformat.

Also, I did virus scans, defrag, scandisk and spyware
checks all with negative results in fixing this.

the extra amounts of usage. You might also go to run,
type:Msinfo32 Look thru the conflicts/sharing for
problems,chk out the others.
