Costomizing background issues...

I put a wallpaper on and its white. The words under the icon pictures (like
recycle bin, shortcuts and stuff like that) on the desktop are in white. Now,
it does put a shadow up, but i'd much rather they were in blue (to match part
of the wallpaper and be easier to read) then in white, which is hard to read.

That color is automatically adjusted according to wallpaper. You can
put a background color (behind th text). To do that :
Right click desktop > Arrange icons by > Lock web items on desktop

1. Right-click on My Computer - choose Properties - click Advanced tab.
2. Under Performance click Settings button.
3. Make a check mark on "Use Drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop".
