Copy slides while retaining orginal format and background

I would like to copy some slides from one presentation to another without the slides automatically changing their background and format. I want the slides to retain the orignal format and background of the origanl preentation. I know I can link the presentations but in this case I would like all of the slides in one presentation with the two different backgrounds and formats.

Any suggestions?

This is only available in PPT XP (2002) or 2003 versions. You need to check
the "Keep source formatting" on the dialog box. PPT 2000 or 97 does not
have this capability.

Thanks - I was beating my head against the wall trying to find a way with PowerPoint 97.
