control panel problem

When I go to start button and select "control panel" or "my computer" neither
will open the screen just flashes. The computer operates fine but of course
I will need to get to control panel and my computer eventually.... any
suggestions..

After you done a check for Malware I think you must do a
start--run "sfc /purgecache" and
start--run "sfc /scannow" with the WinXp cd rom inserted.
