connection set-up/dialing window problem.

Hi,

All of a sudden, for some reason, every time I click on
the Internet Explorer icon to connect to the Internet the
dialing box doesn't pop up. It then asks if I want to work
off-line, or re-try connecting, and the process continues.
I then go to the "Tools" menu, and select "Internet
Options". Once that is open, I click on the "Connections"
tab. Then I notice that the option "Never dial a
connection" is selected. I change it to either "Dial
whenever a network connection is not present" or "Always
dial my default connection", and then click "apply" and
then "OK" then when I double click on the Internet
explorer icon to connect to the Internet, the dial box
comes up. But then once I disconnect, and try to connect
again, the same thing happens. It keeps automatically
switching back to "Never dial a connection" How could I
fix this?
P.S. i tried reinstalling IE but it didn't help.

Can this help?

Connection Settings Change After You Apply an Internet Explorer Maintenance
GPO
Your Internet Explorer dial-up networking settings may change from "Never
dial a connection" to "Always dial my default connection"
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306936 (i. e. 5. W2000 Sept. 24, 2002)

Sorry, but that doesn't apply to me. I didn't install an
Internet Explorer Maintainence GPO, and i'm using IE 6. If
it helps, i have a dail-up connection. The window dailing
window comes up if i'm using Outlook, but when i open
Internet Explorer, the dialing window doesn't pop up and
it asks me if i want to "work off-line" or "re-try". Then
lke i said before if i look at the connection
options, "Never dial a connection" is selected. I noticed
that it even changes itself back to "never dial a
connection" if i'm on the internet for like 5 min, and
then i go back to the connection options and check it.
Keeps automatically switching back to "never dail a
connection"
