Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Minimum System Requirements

The first site says 256 MB RAM & the 2nd site says 1GB, which is correct?

https://microsoft.order-9.com/winxp...tegory_name=winxp64&product_id=winxp64&id=dl#

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prka_fea_tfiu.asp

The following link also says system restore is not supported, is this
information upto date as I intended to switch to Win 64 but not if there’s no
system restore.

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prka_fea_tfiu.asp

Finally I have read that there will be a free update from Win XP pro 32 bit
to 64 bit, can Microsoft confirm this?

First - as it is Beta - I would choose whichever page is the LATEST - as it
should contain the most current information.
(Actually - I would do that even if it wasn't "beta", but in this case - it
reiterates the status.)

As for your last question concerning "free update" - my guess would be "no".
It's not really the same OS.

Where did you see the microsoft.com domain in that URL? The domain is
order-9.com, and that isn't a Microsoft domain. At the bottom of
http:/www.order-9.com, it says, "This site is hosted by Catalysis for
Microsoft." Maybe, maybe not.

System Restore is an unreliable method of recovering to a snapshot of
your system (it really isn't a snapshot but more of an Undo operation).
Use drive images made before major changes to recover your system to the
EXACT state it was in before.

Was the upgrade from Windows 3.1 (16-bit API) to Windows 9x (16- and
32-bit API) free? Was the upgrade from Windows 9x/ME to Windows
NT/2000/XP free? Go read
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/howtobuy/default.mspx. My
guess is the free *TRIAL* will expire probably around 6 months after
installing it, or maybe after a specific calendar date.

Hello
The requirements at the first site link are correct.
The second link is for Itanium Platform not for the x64 platform so those
requirements would be different as would be the supported functionality.
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition does support system restore.
Thanks,
