configuring firewalls

i need some help please. my friend is using windows 2000
and she believes that her connection is behind a firewall.
where are the settings to check this? and is she allowed
to configure this?

There's no firewall by default in the OS, although there is third party
firewall software - but she or someone would have had to have installed &
configured it.. Is she on a network? If so, there may be a firewall there.
If this is a corporate network, tell her to ask her admin.

What is it you're trying to accomplish or discover here?

well surely you can check the status and configure ports
to enable or disable the access, go to network
connection..properties...and then on the advance tab you
will see the staus of firewall enable or disable and
underthere is a setting tab where u can ports to allow or
refuse success...
