Computer wont power down

I have a pentium 4 1.4ghz computer running XP pro with SP2 and when I try to
shut down it will go through the steps and I can hear the hard drive stop as
well as the monitor will go black yet the fans and mother board still appear
to be getting power to them and will not shut down until I hold the power
button forcing a shut down. This is different from other problems I have seen
where computers may hang at the Windows is shutting down screen as the video
card does appear to power down. Has anyone seen this or know how to correct
it?

sounds like a hardware related issue...i'd have it checked out

Seems to be hardware related problem.Best option is to get it checked by
the dealer/vendor from whom you have bought.
