Computer hangs at 13 minutes on XP installation

HI

I am trying to update my laptop from Windows 98 to XP but the installation
keeps hanging with 13 minutes left. I have restarted the setup a couple of
times but the problem still occurs. Obviously at the stage I can not go back
to the original operating system.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can get pass this stage ?

Thanks

Let it hang for about 25-30 minutes. It may continue after that
period of time and resume the installation. You did not mention an
error message of any sort. I experienced a similar hang on a repair
install with about the same amount of time remaining. I called
Microsoft Support and while waiting on hold the process resumed after
about 25 minutes. I tried a repeat repair install and it did it
again.

The install itself appeared to be fine. So, let it hang for a while
and see what happens.

Cheers,

Ted
