Computer Freezes whenever I use slideshows

Hi,
Whenever I try to create a slideshow, using several different programs,
mainly Nero, my computer freezes when I try to preview or burn the video.
This also happens with several other shareware programs I have tried to use.
I am using Windows 2000 Pro with all the most recent updates installed. Any
ideas? Thanks.
