Color Speckling?

Guest

I have recently upgraded my entire computer to Windows XP. I have XP on my
laptop and it hasn't given me a bit of trouble. On my desktop however, I get
color speckling. Typically blue speckles around my cursor, and red and blue
speckles on my desktop, and whatever website I am viewing. These are
especially visible if the website has dark colors or a dark background. Has
anyone had this problem?

My computer is about three days old with XP Home Edition.

Update / reinstall the drivers for your video card. Get them from the
device manufacturer's website if it's a retail device, the computer OEM's
website if it's a major OEM such as Dell or HP, or the motherboard
manufacturer's web site if it's an on board device. While you're at it make
sure all the device drivers are updated with XP compatible drivers.

Update your video drivers. Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get
them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

In addition, check your settings for Clear Type in the Control
Panel>Display applet. Click on the Appearance tab and then the Effects
button.
