Childproof a PC?

You think that'll stop a kid from using a computer? -Dave

No, but it might develop some initiative and a concept of consequence
and responsibility seemingly lacking in the OP's tale of woe.

Lol now look where the story has gone....................there was no
tale.....or woe....or a question of parental guidance. merely a way to
password protect the PC. Most kids test and make mistakes, why do you need
to cut his/her hands off, punish is some PERMANENT way? Simply be able to
take away temporarily while the kid sorts things out, without having to
disconnect the whole thing and make it useless/punish everyone.

Just what we all need, kids with initiative and a sense of
consequence but no hands. Thousands of people are dying in
middle east because of dumbasses like yourself thinking they
can be barbaric in their concept of punishment. Do you
really want to be punished yourself when you step a little
over that imaginary line drawn in someone else's head? Keep
in mind that your idea of "right" doesn't necessarily match
someone else's, it's THEIR idea of what you do wrong that
would cause punishment, no matter how "responsible" you
think you are.

I know that when I was a kid, had my parents asked me not to touch
There are kids like that, my wife was one, my oldest is another. I don't
think it has ever ocurred to my oldest to break a rule or not do what I
say. My brother-in-law and my youngest are the opposite, they constantly
test the rules, immediately do the opposite of what they are told.

I guess "test the rules" is one way to describe such behavior.
Another would be lying and betraying the trust of those who love you.

The correct word is rebellious. Frankly if your trust is broken by
rebellious behavior, you didn't have any trust to begin with. Trust is not
equivalent to control. These claims of perfect children who never
challenge your authority or substitute their judgement for yours is
nonsense; any such child would be an automaton, worthless.

Nobody here reads Swift, I see. It's called hyperbole and sarcasm. One
could look it up.

That's right...Mullah in da house!

No, I just like pushing the buttons of people I'll never meet.

Thank you. Your boy scout "moral equivalency" badge is in the mail.

Now, back to the topic: If 15 year old child is told not to **** with
my PC and does so, said 15 year old gets no PC again. They have failed
the test of trust and responsibility on the first attempt and
elaborate methods of passwords, removing hard drives and getting a big
ol' box with a key are not only not going to work, they entirely miss
the point that you have raised a conniving little liar who you refuse
to hold to account.

And for the record, I do not approve of maiming one's children. Not
while Juvie Hall's still around, anyway.

Are we clear?

We are talking about a __15__ y/o?????? Are you guy's stupid or what? Back
in the late 60's in 2 more years the goverment is going to strap a 80 lb.
sack to his back and fly him to the other side of the world to kill people.
There he will be called "The FNG". His life expectancy is measured in days.
And you guys are going through all this BS to stop him from looking at a
naked girl now? In 2 years he would have been able to rent one for about 5
bucks. Geeezzzzz, grow up. I thought the kid was a kid in the 5-6 y/o range.
He's probably getting as much pussy as he wants right now.

That explains, no doubt, why there were no survivors and we had to resort
to cloning.
