character maps

Need to make special characters, but Character map is
missing from System Tools in my version of XP Home. How do
I get it? Install, what? Thanks.

Hi

Try typing 'charmap' - without the quotes from Start>Run. Failing that go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components>Accessories>Details>Accessories>Details - make sure that 'Character Map' is enabled and then OK your way out. Check back in System Tools.

You may have just lost the shortcut to Charmap.

Try Start>Run "charmap.exe"(no quotes)>OK

If no joy, go to Control Panel>Add/remove and select Add/remove Windows
Components.

Have your CD ready.

You're welcome. Just out of interest, did you use the built-in XP Character Map Editor? I have found it is a case of 'hit and miss' as to whether that works properly.
