Change Default Timeout for Ping (ICMP settings)

Tony Burrow

I am using an application which has a ping test, which can
only be configured to IP Address, Packet Size and Number
of Packets. You cannot give the ping the -w option, and so
it uses the default Windows setting of 1 second. I would
like to change the default timeout for ping to 3 seconds,
as the test fails due to timeout, but when manually tested
with a 3 second timeout the ping works OK. Any help would
be much appreciated, to change the Windows default timeout
for ping to 3 seconds.

Hi Tony,

I believe that the timeout in ping.exe is not configurable (other than the
"-w" switch). I would recommend you check with the application vendor to see
if there is a way to have the app change the timeout.

Thanks,
Marc
