Change default filename extension?

Guest

When publishing my website FP 2003 changes my homepage from index.htm to
index.html, unfortunately it doesn't change all the links to the home page. I
do end up with index.htm AS WELL so that the links still work, sort of.

I had previously used FTP to upload everything and index.htm does work as a
home page.

Is there any way to either:
a) change the default extension in FP from .htm to .html, or,
b) stop FP from changing the extension on publish.

thanks.

Ask you web host to move index.htm to the first name in the list of default documents for your web
site.

I will ask my host to re-order the default list, but just in case they won't,
can I change the default extension in FP2003 to html?

?

=?Windows-1252?Q?Rob_Giordano_\=28Crash_Gordon=AE\

it happens because FP will adjust the home page extension to what your host has it set to (only the home page will do this-the other pages can remain the way they are.

There is no need.
Just rename your home page (in the local copy) to the .html extension,
and republish the web. All links will be adjusted.

Rename your local copy to index.html and let FrontPage update the links when and if prompted.
Recalculate hyperlinks.
Publish.
Open the server version and delete index.htm

I have an identical problem to Cavok. I have tried renaming index.htm on the
PC but get the following error message "Server error: the folder that would
hold URL 'index_files' does not exist on the server". Can't find what is
causing this probelm. Any ideas?

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download
FP Cleaner.

Run the functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the Cache(.web) files.

Reopen your web. Recalculate hyperlinks, and then try renaming index.htm
