CD's Missing from Computer

I have lost my CD-R and CD-RW from <My computer>
On bootup, XP detects the hardware but cant find the drivers
and then finally outputs that the hardware may not function correctly.
When I look in <My Computer> or <Device Manager> both drives are missing.
Can someone please identify the tag if it is not
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11C
E-
BFC1-08002BE10318}
and the entries in this tag for the CD Drives or whatever else it might be.
Thanks
Stan

Download this fix to fix missing Cd drives or drives with error 39
etc:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm. Download
the vbs
script file, double click it and click yes when prompted. You will
need to
reboot for the changes to take effect.

Hello Peter,
Thanks for the information, I ran the dougknox script and it seemed to work,
because after the boot the drives came back,
However, they are no longer present on this machine as we speak, about 15
minutes after running the boot.they just simply disappeared without any
warning, no sound, no message, just gone.
I tried to play a CD in the CD rom and it just wont go. I looked in the
registry and the Upper and Lower filters are present under the tag. They
were not commented out or deleted by the script. do you know how the script
brings back the CD's?
