CD-R/RW Burning

My system recognizes the CD-R/RW. I can burn files to the
CD-R/RW and I AM using the correct CD-RW discs.

Problem is, after I've saved the Word document to the cd,
it ends up being in a READ ONLY format and I am unable to
change that.

So, I can open the document, but I can not make changes to
the document and save it, or re-save it under a different
name.

The CD-R/RW is a Samsung 240B.

Please help. I am beginning to pull my hair out.

Copy the saved program back to your hard drive so you can
open it with Word and modify it.

keep the same document on my hard drive.

Are you saying this is impossible?

It is not possible, but why would it make a difference anyway? In either case, you need to work with the document, and changes made would then need to be saved. If the document name has not changed, you can make the changes you need from having it on your hard drive, then saving again to the disk, and over-writing the existing one when prompted.

I AM able to do that. I guess I was trying to say that I
didn't want to keep the same document on my hard drive
that I have on my CD because of the confidentiality of the
document itself. In other words, to keep prying outs OUT
of the document.

Maybe the only way to accomplish this task is to find some
way to incrypt the document on my hard drive so that it
can't be seen.

I did figure out that I could overwrite the files on my CD
with the edited version of that same document. But, I
still had to edit the document and keep it stored on my
hard drive, which is what I was trying to avoid.

around the issue with putting in the password.

This is possible with packet-writing software like Roxio Direct CD.

Warning: CDRW media is not very reliable (especially after many rewrites),
so you'll want to make backup copies.

Get a ZIP drive. - u could use a CD-RW disk and just rewrite it to it, but
i can not simple open it form cd, change it and save it and tadda! it is
saved to CD, that is not possible,.

For something like this i would suggest a 100mb or 250mb Omega Zip disk
drive as it can be used just like a hard drive and files can eb saved and
changed all you want.

Right, or Ahead InCD.

Windows Longhorn will likely have such functionality (allow "in place"
modification of data written to C/DVD). See
