CD not showing up

I'm trying to burn music onto a CD. The program is telling me that a CD needs to be inserted. It's already inserted?!?

I've done this many times before but am just recently getting this message.

Have you tried a different CD? Also, the issue may be with your CD burning
software, so you may want to inquire in a group that focuses on that
software, as W2K has no CD burning capabilities built into it as part of the
OS.

Is the CD burner a fairly new one? I have seen this with
some burners where they just don't recognize certain types
of writable CD's. I know many CD burners also want you to
format the CD first but that is dependent on the software
being used. Last but not least, is the burner a CD-RW or
just a CD-R? CD-RW discs may not be read by a CD-R burner
in many cases.

Have you applied window 2000 sp4? After applying this patch my cd drives
disappeared.
