CD Buring Software..

Is this the proper newsgroup to ask a question about CD burning software?

I'm using Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 on my XP home edition and it
wouldn't run last night.

Error Log:
Faulting application creatorc.exe, version 6.2.0.111,
faulting module mfc42.dll, version 6.2.4131.0,
fault address 0x00002b1b.

I rebooted. Same problem.

I used Add or Remove Programs to do a repair. Same problem.

I fixed it by doing a System Restore but I'm curious as to what happened
and if there is better software for burning CDs. Roxio offers Easy
Media Creator 9 but it seems to do much more than burn CDs.

Depends on what you need to do.

XP itself is capable of writing to CD's without any software.

I always found Roxio to be overkill and buggy (did you check for updates
at Roxio?)

Nero software has, for me, provided better results and usually comes
free with a drive. If you don't have a copy, ask around.

All I really need to do is create folders on a CDr and then drag
picture, data and/or music files to a specific folder on the CDr and
then be able to add to the CDr at a later date.

I'm reading about that now. That may be all I need?

I've got all the updates Roxio offers. The software has performed well
until last night.

MY CDr drive came with Nero 7 Essentials but it seems like it wanted me
to purchase an update? I removed it.

Ask Roxio. But, Creator 6 is getting long in the tooth.
As the other poster mentioned, the suite is big. Too big in fact when all I
really use is Drag-to-Disk.

I'm new to XP and I didn't know it could burn to a CDr. Pretty cool. And
I just learned that even though I have two CDr drives XP will only let
me write to one. I can choose either one but not both.
