CD autoplay problem...

I'm running WinXP/SP2 and my CD autoplay function has not been working
for a few months. I can check the properties of the CD/RW drive in
Explorer and set the autoplay options such as play music CD with WMP
but nothing happens,,, Windows reads the CD when its inserted (I see
the CD light flashing) but nothing else. In addition, a CD with an
"autostart" setup (such as a game) does not start without me clicking
on it in Explorer.

Any ideas out there... this is very frustrating!!

thanks a bunch

Hi,

There is a file here that you can copy to your system and run, it will reset
the autorun defaults:
ftp://12.107.147.141/WinXP%20Autorun%20fix/

If you cannot access it, go to the Control Panel/Internet Options and on the
advanced tab disable passive ftp.

Thanks for the tip... it worked like a charm. Too bad Microsoft didn't
recommend it in their knowledge base :)

thanks again
