caps lock/shift keys opening search window

I just purchased a new HP computer with Windows XP. Every
time I am typing along if I hit the caps lock or shift key
more than once, the search files window opens up. This
will open up multiple times too while I am typing. I am
typing at a high speed doing word processing of names,
using the caps and shift keys quite often. Is there a way
to disable this? Is this standard with Windows XP? I
didn't have this problem with Windows 98. Thanks!

Your fingers might be getting "tired" and starting to
drag and hitting the other keys or you might want to do
some research in one of those "ergonomic" keyboards. But,
anyhow, check Start/ControlPanel/Printers and Other
Hardware/Keyboard/and change the character repeat
settings.
