still have 9 unread emails( there is 56 in the folder) and cannot view them.I
have 2Gb of ram with 64Gb of hard drive space left on computer
As well as this problem i cannot download emails- An unknown error has
occurred. Account: '(e-mail address removed)', Server: 'mail.bigpond.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005.

"Unknown error" is almost always related to your antivirus.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail. As a minimum, you must disable any email scanning
in your antivirus. If that is not sufficient, you may need to uninstall any third
party security software that is interfering with Windows Mail.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

In any case, email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for
reasons explained here:

Which antivirus are you running?

Have you tried the first step, which is to go into the settings of your
antivirus and disable its email scanning?
