cant stop startup programs

I have three processes that run at startup that i dont
want. I manually shut them down each session in task
manager. I have tried using spybot to delete the registry
keys related to the programs auto start function but they
create a new registry key on startup so that they can
startup automatically on, you guessed it, startup.
I have tried moving the DLL associated with the startup
out of the windows startup file search path. but the
program makes a new startup dll. The programs that run
are: One; associated with my Nvidia Geforce4 MX440
graphics card for desktop view settings, davpapi.exe;
another is; esspk.exe, a modem-on-hold utility that I dont
use...came with my modem install CD, its not on the
windows installed programs list or else i would have
uninstalled it. The last is alg.exe...nevermind..thats
application layer gateway service that i starteds for the
ms firewall thingy. anyway, I got two that i can't stop.
Any Ideas?

Hello
go to your system config utility and shut them off under
the startup tab,
Start>Run>type "msconfig" (without the quotes)
Hope this helps

Then I would have have to run windows in selective startup
mode and I was hoping to avoid that but thanks for the tip.

Steve;
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | OK
Scroll down to and double click: NVIDIA Display Driver Service |
Set to Disabled | Apply | OK

When esspk.exe starts, is there a tray icon? Open it and find options, preferences or
similar and look for something like "Load on startup" or "Start when Windows starts" or
similar and uncheck that option.
