Cleaning out startup

Hey everyone,

There are a bunch of apps that run on my startup, ones
that I have to go to task manager and shut down because
they use a crapload of memory. Is there a way to keep
these programs from starting? I tried cleaning the
registry and also the startup programs area. Still a lot
of excess stuff. Any ideas? Thanks.

.
Yes,go to start>>>run>>>type in msconfig
everything>>>apply>>>OK>>>restart>>>check box don't show
again>>>OK>>>then go to your antivirus, and check the
options to have it come on at startup.(Thats all you need
on at startup anyway!
