Trace

I have a friend in Germany who i've tried to send e-mails to, and she to me.
However we receiving nothing, even though Outlook Express is stating the
messages have been sent.
All other e-mails we send are working perfectly fine, but not it seems these.
I have Windows XP with Norton Anti Virus.
Anyone got any ideas?
Many thanks

Your mail is probably being intercepted by a spam filter,
either on your German friend's PC or by his ISP. Ask
him/her to open a Hotmail account, at least while performing
your tests.

Tell her (and yourself) to check spam folder.
Is she using OE or another client, if so tell her to logon and check
via the web based interface of the account.
Who are the email accounts with, I only ask as there is a known
problem with European AOL *Dial-Up* accounts. If it is an AOL
account and it is *Dial-Up* (not BB) you will have to contact AOL.
Now the obvious stuff - you both have checked that you have each
others correct email addresses configured in OE?

Why ask here? XP has absolutely NO ability to send/receive email.

Ask elsewhere

I have several comments:

1. Fortunately most of are not as rude as the person who calls himself
NoConsequence. He is aptly named.

2. Despite what NoConsequence says, Outlook Express is part of Windows
XP, and therefore Windows XP *does* have the ability to send and
receive mail. So your question is on-topic and perfectly appropriate
for this newsgroup.

3. Even though Outlook Express questions *are* on-topic here, there
are many newsgroups dedicated to Outlook Express. Those newsgroups are
where the Outlook Express experts hang out, and therefore you have
better chances of getting correct answers to Outlook Express questions
there. So for the future, you might want to keep this in mind.

4. All that said, it would appear that there is a spam filter
somewhere in the link that's preventing messages from getting through.
You might want to try varying the content and/or subject lines to see
if you can get some messages through.

5. If number 4 above (or someone else's answer) doesn't help, please
try asking again in a newsgroup like
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general.

Get a free, disposable email account from Yahoo and have your friend
send there.

No, OE is a PROGRAM that is included with XP. It is not "part" of XP.
It can be sucessfully removed with no consequences - as I have done on
all my computers since it's advent.

Exactly. So questions for it belong in THOSE groups, NOT here.

FWIW:
I had the same problem sending and receiving from the Czech Republic using
Verizon DSL. I switched back to RR cable and the problem went away.
