I see you posted with a Live email address. Is that your only email address?
Free Hotmail and Live accounts have webmail access only, no POP access.
Windows Mail handles POP mail but not webmail.

The newer Windows Live Mail program does accommodate Hotmail and Live
accounts: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Hi, Joel.

Please repost your message in microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
(Yes, the "desktop" is still in the name of the newsgroup, although it was
removed from the name of the application well over a year ago.) THIS NG is
for Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail.

When you post, please give a few more details. Are you trying to use a
Hotmail account, or POP3 or IMAP - or what. Was it working before and then
quit, or is this a new installation? Have you created a Mail Account for
your ISP or other mail server? Please tell us, step by step, just what you
did and just what results you saw. If there is an error message, please
quote it verbatim if you can.

And it wouldn't hurt to mention the make and model of your computer and
exactly which version of Windows (WinXP Home Basic SP3, Vista Ultimate x64
SP1 - or something else) to provide a frame of reference.
send or recieve can u tell me how to do this

Usually, just start WLM and it should do an initial Send/Receive
immediately.

I can not send or receive messages. Is Microsoft live installed into vista.
I signed up today for MSN. Did I need to do that . Thank u

Signing up for MSN is not necessary in order to send and receive
email.

It isn't clear what you mean by "Microsoft live" because there isn't an
email program by that name. The email program that comes with Vista
is called Windows Mail. Please click on "Help, About..." to get the
exact name of your program.

Also, if you get an error message, right-click on the error message,
select Copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.
