This sucks, ive lost 4 days on this one!
Ive got vista, it used to send and recieve. but on thursday it stoped
sending... but not all.
I can send to others here at work, and i can send to my isp... but not
anyone else.
i have disabled my firewall (Windows), AV (freeAVG) and still having issues.
I can send on a XP machine on the same settings and thunderbird has the same
isses with Vista. i started using windows mail then tried thunderbird with
the same issues. im getting a error of 550: 5.7.1.
tried using a Imap setting with my isp, no joy! im using pop3...

ive dicked about with almost every setting i can see in thunderbird and
mail... not getting anywhere

Please can some one help me or shoot MS before i get fired for not being
productive!

That's not a WinMail issue, if you get the same problem from Thunderbird.
Also, I think that is a server error and not a client error, so it appears
the messages are being sent. Are they in your sent items folder? What are
the details of the error message?

they go into the out box... till i send.. then i get this message.. and
thats it

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'MYISP.co.uk', Server: 'MYISP.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '550 5.7.1 <[email protected]>... Relaying denied. Proper
authentication required.', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550,

Ive removed the email addresses and details...

according to our good friends at google.

Complain to your ISP - they are blocking messages with a null ("<>") MAIL
FROM, which violates the Internet mail standards. Both delivery- and
read-receipts are required to be sent with a null MAIL FROM, and servers are
*required* to accept such messages. Your ISP has probably blocked them in
an ill-advised attempt to limit spam (blocking this won't help...).

Whenever the error message says "Relaying denied", it means you
were trying to send while connected to a provider other than the
owner of the 'MYISP.co.uk' server. Incidentally, it looks like you have
altered that server name since it is not a valid server name. It makes
it difficult for me to troubleshoot the problem when you alter critical
details. Your post was sent from btopenworld.com. What is the
connection between btopenworld.com and 'MYISP.co.uk'?

I'm having the same issue which just started late last night. When I tried
to send, it won't. I can't send any mail to anyone. There are two emails in
my outbox but the counter says there is only one. The one that appears to be
giving me issues does this. "An unknown error has occurred". Also...when I
look at the message it says: Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem
while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk
space and try again. Any ideas?

Unfortunately this is a common bug with Windows Mail.
Once you get a 'ghost' email stuck in the Outbox, and
it won't let you send anything, your options are quite limited.
If you don't feel comfortable doing the database deletion/regeneration
method that has been posted here numerous times, then your
only remaining option is to install and use a different email program.
Mozilla Thunderbird is free:

Lastnight, I called my internet provider and it really didn't take that
long....we re-created our account! I guess if it happens again...that's what
I'll do.
Thanks for your comments!!

I was able to get HP tech support to help me with these issues today. Jack
was his name and he remade folders so I can send, recieve, and delete now. I
was very firm with them about not paying anyone to fix this. I don't care
whoses issue it is, fix it or come get your PC with a check in hand for a
full refund.

Thanks for the feedback. It is unusual nowadays to get much help
from one's ISP.

Jean,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve Cochran's utility. Then use the utility (after
unzipping) to compact your e-mail and the problem will go away. It worked
for me.

Good luck.

Try this:

1. Go to the Vista start menu and type cmd
2. The search results will display a program titled cmd
3. Right-click on the link and select "Run as administrator"
4. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without
the quotatioin marks
5. Test your POP account and see if you can now download your mail.
6. If nothing changes, reenable the autotuning feature by typing
"netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal"

Helllllp... Can't send any emails. BellSouth ISP. Get stuck in outbox. Now
have one there that won't delete. Still have one in inbox that won't delete.
Will this ever be
fixed or is MSN going to replace? Thanks.
