Can't Remove Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service

I installed Microsoft Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider
Package by mistake in my Desktop PC Windows XP system. Add/Remove fails to
delete and/or restore the update correctly. I first get a Software Update
Removal Wizard that starts off with "When you remove Windows XP, you might
remove security updates that help protect your computer" and then to click
next to remove Windows XP. It looks around but doesn't remove XP. Instead
I get "Error: The handle is invalid" and then "Error: The was not
uninstalled" and the uninstall fails--probably just as well as I might
actually have uninstalled XP for all I know.

From KB909520 I have confirmed I have 5 files installed or modified for the
x86 version. I also should have 3 Registry entries that were created. Can
I delete the 5 files and the 3 Registry entries or what should I do? Yes,
I know how to get into the Registry and do various things in it when I need
to. Yes, the KB says not to install this thingy if I don't need it or was
not asked to. But that never stopped me from accidentally or on purpose
doing stupid things on a computer before. I need the KB section left out
on how to uninstall the application if you install it accidentally and if
the Add/Remove fails to uninstall or thinks you want to uninstall XP
PLEASE. :) It is clear I don't need it. How do I get rid of it. Oh, and
doing a clean install of XP is not an option either. :)

Thank you.

Susan
