Can't reapply W2K SP3 after uninstalling SP4

I have an application that I found out will only run under W2K SP3, after
successfully removing SP4 by means of "Add Remove Programs" and rebooting
the server, typing WINVER still shows SP4. When trying to reinstall SP3 in
the hopes of fixing this I get the message that "Setup has detected that the
Service Pack version of the system installed is newer than the update you
are applying to it. You can only install this update on Service Pack 3."

Does anyone have any clues on tweaking the registry so I can reapply SP3
again?

Would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance.
