Can't open webpages from address bar or favorites

Windows XP Home edition , I.E 6

When I type a web page address in the address bar and
click go or hit enter key the web page fails to load, this
also happens with web pages that I try to access through
Favorites menu.

Anyone got any idea what the trouble is ?

Rule out parasites.

Get AdAware and Spybot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
