Can't Get Rid of File on Desktop

There is a file appearing on my desktop which resists deletion. The file has
zero bytes and no file extension ( the name is CAZEE1ZZ.) When I try and
delete the file the message is "Cannot delete file: cannot read file from
the source or disk." How do I eliminate this nuisance?
