can't get an update to "take"

Jonathan Papillo

My apologies if posting this on 2 newsgroups is rude, but
I am not sure which group to post this to.

I have installed the "Critical Update for Windows Media
Player Script Commands (KB828026)" update something like
20 times. After every time it claims that the patch
installed properly but after every login it will re-
appear as a "new" update.

What can I do to install this patch and get it to "take"
so I am not re-installing it every single day?

Please respond to (e-mail address removed) since once I leave
this message I am not sure how to get back to read
responses.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings:

I had that problem once, it turned out to be a service I had disabled...
which service?... can't remember clearly but I believe it was the Client
Service
if you have disabled any service recently, that could be the case as most
services are dependent on others.

Maybe you'll find something that coincides with your particular problem
in the update troubleshooter.
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

Hope this helps.

Cool, I found my way back.

Thanks for the advice, I will look into both of your
suggestions.

Take care,
