I can't find the window that lets me change the "read only" entry so I can
edit my CD's after I transfer info to them. I did'nt realize I did'nt have
to mark the read only or hid info, now I can't find my way back to that
window that allows me to correct my error.

Thank you for the reply, however, due to serious lack of knowledge, I can't understand the answer: What file do I look for (I tried to get on the CD file, I did the right/properties/general, but just got the compacity of the CD. Please bare with me.

After you transfer the file from the CD-Rom to the hard drive, then
right-click the file (on the hard drive) then Properties|General

Dear Mr Patrick, I will only trouble you one more time if you'll let me.

I put in the CD, bring up my computer window, then hit the CD line, which
comes up, I then hit the D:/ file and right click which get me options of
stardard bar, lock tool bar, etc. or if I hit the left click there's a
properties, but not in bold type and I can't get it to react. (I'm asuming
this d:/ is the hard drive that you refer to). Again my apologies. George,
(trust me, ignorance is not bliss)

D:\ could be the CD-Rom drive or the hard drive. Usually C:\ would be the
hard drive. Maybe we should back up here and tell us what you're trying to
do.

--Thanks so much again. I transferred some files from floppy disc to CD disc, in the process, somehow I got this window that asked me if I wanted "read only" or "Hide", without thinking I check marked "Read Only". And this is what my CD read, when I try to edit the CD, it says "Read Only", so I'm trying to get back to some point where I can change what I can do with the CD (I want to be able to edit it). Thanks for your patience. George

If you get this new message twice, it's because I hit something accidently and knocked off what I just typed. I'll begin again: To start off I transferred some lists from my floppy disc to my CD disc. Somewhere during this I got a window that aked me if I wanted to "read-only" the CD. For some reason i checked it . So now when I try to editt the CD, it says "read only". Now I can't find that window to correct this and allow me to edit my CD. Again, a million apologies. George

Generally speaking you don't edit files on a CDR or CDRW drive. CDFS is the
default format for CD-ROM disks and as such the files are read-only. You
copy them back to the fixed disk (hard drive) do the editing, then burn them
back to the CD-Rom using your burner software.
