Can't Empty Recycle Bin

B

Brent Milne

I have been all over the internet looking for a solution with no luck.

My bin has 12 items in it but when I go to delete it I get the error
message...'Cannot delte "filename": Cannot find the specified file. Make
sure you specify the correct path and file name'......There is no extension
on the file and when I view the recycle bin through windows explore none of
the 12 items show anywhere. I did a search on the file name and came up
empty. Some solutions offered had me looking for 'recycled' which came up
with nothing, a registry fix that did nothing and various other useless
hints. Would appreciate any help thanks.

Have you tried this?
Go to Start/Run/CMD:

Type: cd.. enter cd.. enter then, Type: attrib -s -h recycled [enter], Type:
del recycled [enter], Restart the computer.
Or go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: rd /s /q c:\recycled

try turning off your anti-virus software and then try to empty recycle bin.
alot of times anti-virus software will protect the bin and not let you delete
certain files in it as they are being protected. I don't know what software
you are using, but nortons is famous for protecting the recycle bin.
