Can't access my digital photos after burning to CD RW

I cannot view my digital photos (I use ACDSee) after I burn them to a
CD RW disk. I am using Win XP on a new Micro center computer.

Everthing works as it is supposed to if I use a CD R disk.

Is there some extra software I need to get??

Doesn't Win XP support burning/accessing when using a CD RW?

If you are trying to save or drag and drop directly to CD, this is known as
packet writing and XP does not support that function natively. This
requires third party software such as the Direct CD component of Easy CD
Creator, www.roxio.com or the InCD component of Nero, www.nero.com.

Check the web sites for version compatibility with XP as well as compatible
CD-Writers.

I have been highlighting the files in C:\ that I want to burn and
then right click and use "Send To" the E:\ drive. does your comment
still apply.

You CAN NOT do that (send to). You must use a CD burning program like Nero, Roxio, or even WMP.

Well, kinda sorta!:)

If these disks are formatted, then my comments apply as the formatting is
specific to packet writing, something XP does not yet support.

If they are not formatted, then the files should go to a temp folder and you
should receive a message to that effect.

If you used these CD-RW disks on a previous setup and you did what you
describe here, then those disks are formatted unless you erased them with
the burning program's option to do so.

My guess is, based on what you are saying, the disks are formatted for this
operation and to use in that form for the operation you are attempting will
require third party software.

Asking which is best is only going to bring you answers from those adherents
to the major such software. What you should be aware of is that not all CD
Burning apps include a packet writing component, both Easy Media Creator,
www.roxio.com and Nero, www.nero.com do have such a component. Both
programs are about equal and both have their adherents. Check out the
sites, check prices and options and check to be sure your burner is
compatible with their application and make a choice.
