Can't access certain sites?

Hi,
I have someone that's having a difficult time accessing
certain websites. Sometimes he can access the site and
sometimes he can't. Also, he's not able to access certain
sites at all. What can I do or check to fix this problem?
Thanks...

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Also, Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It
may be a hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing
the site. Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

I have the same problem. I've done everything you said,
and I still am unable to access certain sites. In most
cases it's merely tiresome, but now it seems I can't
access the Blue Cross benefits page, which means I can't
provide info to our employees. I go to a certain site,
it flashes to the page for a second, then kicks me out of
IE entirely, no warning message, nothing.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit is with these

Hi! I have the similar problem after I installed the router in my network. Before I install, I can access all the websites. However, after I installed my linksys WRT54G router, I can't access to certain websites ( such as msn.com, hotmail.com ) while I still can access some websites ( like gmail.com, yahoo.com). And some of the websites even sometime allow me to access while sometimes can not. It happened to all of my PC that connected to that router. Everytime when I try to load those certain websites, it just take time to try, end up timeout and fail.

Can anyone able to help me? Really appreciated for any advice.
