Canon MultiPASS MP 390 printer probs

Hi,

I just puchased the above referenced printer. The manual instructs to load
the drivers and then plug in the cable. That's where the problem begins. When
I plug the cable into the printer and computer, instead of the Add New
Hardware Wizard installing the remainder of what it needs to complete the
process, I start having this "bubble-popping" sound and my desktop blinks. I
have the icon into my taskbar but it seems like it's stuck. My mouse acts
crazy, too.........it keeps popping to the top of the screen. Also, when I
check the Device Manager, there are no conflicts shown.

When I unplug the cable, the new hardware wizard shows that it's completed
the installation of the software for the new hardware. The Device Managerthen
totally deletes anything to do with printer

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer to no avail. I even deleted all
files to do with Canon from the registry.

Also, where exactly is the printer port located? I have a Dell Desktop
computer running Windows XP. I've tried to install the printer in every USB
port I have.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh! I chew on a problem like this as a dog chews on a bone,
and it's driving me crazier than I am normally.

Any help you might give would be appreciated.

Thanks

I find the same USB mouse bug after SP2. Erratic mouse jumps to upper
corner. I don't think there is any cure but to wait a while after boot, for
it to 'settle down', as it does on my system after 10 minutes. When MS
finally reproduces the bug, they will fix it.

Thanks, Mark...............I called Canon and was "walked" thru the
installation. It's now working fine.
