Cannot use object linking & embedding error

I tried to open up an excel file in Excel 2000 and i got
the following error "Cannot use object linking & embedding
error" The computers are networked but the file i am
trying to open is on my own computer and is not shared!

I also tried to open up another excel file over the
network and it gives the same error as well as SVCHOST.exe
keeps crashing the computer!

This is probably not a lot to go on, but can someone
please help me solve this annoying problem

I am having the exact same issue. This is happening all across our
network. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Never seen it, but google has:

http://google.com/[email protected]

I searched within the *excel* newsgroup for: "Cannot use object linking"
(I included the double quotes to make sure google saw it as a phrase.)

There were a bunch of hits. This one looked like it might help.

Either way, post back and google will keep track of it for the next person.
