The message is: "Setup cannot continue either because there is insufficient
free hard disk space or an unexpected error has occurred. Free up space..."

Disk clean up has been executed deleting all temporary files.
MalwareBytes, Ad-Aware, & Windows Defender all say no infections.

1, My first attempt was to install V1.0 from the CD (yeah 2001). No dice.
2. Download from Microsoft site V4.5. No dice.
3. Download from Microsoft site V6.1. No dice.

Finally found that if inserted into a USB port it was recognized and V4.0
was installed automatically. However, it does not provide for the buttons to
"Close" (the active window) or "Exit the Program" as was available prior to
a repair install of Windows XP Professional.

Windows XP Pro. 4GB RAM. SP3 plus all updates since. C: Drive 56GB used
223GB Free.

After 7 years of closing in that manner, It is just agravating.. Any
thoughts?

I have two Trackball Explorers that are running with the v 6.3.191.0
Intellipoint driver. You are downloading to HD then installing from
there? Also, have you uninstalled any previous OEM mouse drivers
before attempting the installation? That type of message could be
due to file corruption, memory error, or a bad registry key. You say
you did a repair install of XP Pro. One thing I would try is to use
regedit to hunt down and delete all registry references to intellipoint.
I once had success with a balky driver installation after removing all
registry references to the previous driver. It was a while ago, but I
think it was for a sound card.
